Here we briefly introduce basic principle of Focusens NTC thermistor and thermistor temperature sensor.

NTC thermistor is a negative temperature coefficient thermal sensitive semiconductor resistor.  Its resistance value decreases with temperature increasing. The resistance temperature coefficient generally locate in range of 3K to 5K, which is about 10 times of the temperature coefficient of metal resistor.

The resistance value of NTC thermistor changes with the change of environment temperature, or changed by the current flowing through itself, resulting in its self-heating .

Various applications are making using of its Temperature Resistance characteristic. Meanwhile with its unique advantages of high accuracy, rapid response and high cost performance. NTC thermistors are widely used in all kinds of temperature measurement and temperature compensation, especially for accurate temperature measurement and control in applications below 300 degrees.

In specific application scenarios, NTC thermistors need to adapt to the installation requirements of the use environment. At the same time, due to the use of the environment specific temperature, pressure resistance, water resistance and other requirements, thermistors need a specific structure and shape of the shell, and need to extend the lead or add a connector matching with the equipment. After encapsulation and assembly of NTC thermistor we usually call the part NTC thermistor temperature sensor. And use its enhanced physical properties to measure and control the corresponding temperature, so as to achieve the purpose of detecting and controlling the temperature of electrical equipments.
