1. Sensing applications
Temperature sensors with thermal conversion are often used to measure physical quantities (e.g. flow, radiation, gas pressure, gas type, humidity, thermochemical reactions, etc.). The measured values of these sensors are mediated in thermal form and output as electrical signals.
2. Biomedical applications
The biomedical field requires a special temperature sensor with extremely stringent requirements. It must be characterized by low power consumption, excellent long-term stability, very high reliability, and an accuracy error of less than 0.1°C over a range of 32 to 44°C. Such sensors are essential for biomedical applications to ensure the accuracy and reliability of measurement results.
3. Space applications
Thermistors and silicon PN junctions have been used for temperature measurement in space. The use of discrete analog and digital interface circuits to read temperature information from sensing elements is becoming increasingly unsuitable for low-cost, low-quality use cases. Especially in micron/nano satellites the need is more difficult to fulfill. Smart temperature sensors with digital outputs can be used in future satellite designs. and can transmit microprocessor-compatible digital information.
4、Industrial applications
Integrated temperature sensors have been reported for automation applications and microbial body heat detection applications, although their characteristics and needs vary greatly depending on each particular application. For these particular application needs such as low cost, long-term stability and reliability, robust digital interfaces, and communication systems, current smart temperature sensors are available.
5. Consumer product applications
Low-cost integrated temperature sensors and transmitters have emerged and are being used in consumer products such as washing machines, refrigerators, and air conditioners. Low cost, no external components, and simple on-chip calibration during manufacturing are special requirements for consumer product applications. And the measurement accuracy should be able to reach 0.5℃ between - 20 and 100℃.
6. Automotive applications
Automobiles generally use thermistors to measure temperature, gasoline vehicles, single-vehicle dosage of 5-10, pure electric vehicles in 15-20, the main companies include TDK (EPCOS), Amphenol, TE, etc., generally have the ability to make their own thermistors, the domestic enterprises Huagong GaoLi, Huibeichuan also entered the front-end system, and batch supply, but the procurement of thermistors is dominated by foreign investors, such as Murata, Semitec.
